A Christmas greeting from Porter Garnett to Edmund Geiger Gress

An exceptional memento, from the founder of the Laboratory Press at the Carnegie Institute of Technology to the noted typographer. Three items including the cover letter dated Dec. 21, '25 : "Dear Gress: I'm sending you two copies of our Xmas card. One is of the regular "edition" on 18th century French paper, the other is one of only five copies on 15th century paper. Two of these I am keeping one goes to the author of the poem [Leon Josiah Richardson, former Professor of Latin UC Berkeley] and another to a student who helped me at the press. There is no one I know who would be more interested than you in having the remaining copy than you, so here it is with my best wishes. The date of the sheet is 1476. If all goes well I'll see you the Monday after Xmas. Sincerely Garnett". From the collection of Burl Osburn.
